How Is Schizophrenia Diagnosed?

I am curious if anyone on here knows. While I don't have schizophrenia (at least I hope not), I have always wondered how something as complex as this is actually diagnosed by a doctor. What do they do to prove someone has this mental illness?

Re: How Is Schizophrenia Diagnosed?

A doctor will look for telling signs of it:
Delusions (false beliefs that the person won’t give up, even when they get proof that they’re not true)
Hallucinations (hearing or seeing things that aren’t there)
Disorganized speech and behavior
Catatonic or coma-like daze
Bizarre or hyperactive behavior

They will also do a behavioral test, simular to what you would give someone who has Alzymer's, ADHD, Autism, and so on.
